Dato’ Henry Pheng Chin Guan
Chief Executive Officer
Dato’ Henry Pheng was appointed Chief Executive Officer on 2008.
He is responsible for executing the Group’s strategy and plays a pivotal role in developing the Group’s business. He is also responsible for managing the Group’s day-to-day operations.
Dato’ Henry Pheng graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Wollongong, Australia in 1993, and is a full member of the Certified Practising Accountants Australia and a chartered accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
Dato’ Pheng was also appointed as an Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Kinsteel in 1997 and Chief Executive Officer of Perwaja Steel in 2006.
Dato’ Lew Choon
Head of Marketing
Dato’ Lew Choon is the Head of Marketing of Perwaja Steel.
He has been involved in the steel industry for more than 20 years and has accumulated much invaluable hands-on experience and exposure in all respect of the steel business. He is responsible for marketing, production planning and quality control functions of Perwaja Steel.
Dato’ Lew Choon was appointed as an Executive Director of Kinsteel in 1991, and also sits on the board of various other private limited companies.
Tee Choon Pung
Chief Operating Officer
Mr Tee is the Chief Operating Officer of Perwaja Steel, responsible for overall plant operation.
Prior to joining Perwaja Steel in 2007, Mr Tee was appointed the General Manager of Megasteel Sdn Bhd and Amsteel Sdn Bhd in 2000, where he was directly involved in management activities in the companies, which are producers of hot rolled coils, steel bars and wired rods. Subsequently, he joined Amalgamated Industrial Steel Berhad, a manufacturer of steel pipes, in 2004 as the Chief Operating Officer.
Mr Tee holds a Masters of Business Administration Degree from the University of South Alabama, United States.
Ir. Dr. Look Tian Fook
Chief Operating Officer for Business Development & Projects
Ir. Dr. Look joined Perwaja Steel in 2005 and was appointed the Chief Operating Officer for Business Development & Projects of Perwaja Steel.
Ir. Dr. Look possesses extensive experience in the manufacturing industry and held various positions including General Manager of Wing Tiek Steel Pipes Sdn Bhd and Wing Tiek Metal Industries Sdn Bhd and General Manager / Director of Hock Lee Rubber Products Sdn Bhd.
Prior to joining Perwaja Steel, he was the Executive Director of Woodlands Ventures Sdn Bhd and Member of Certification Governing Board of Moody International Certification (M) Sdn Bhd.
Ir. Dr. Look graduated from University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom and is a registered professional engineer in Malaysia and chartered engineer in United Kingdom.
Mohd Yunus Bin Alias
Head of Logistics
Mr Mohd Yunus Bin Alias is the Head of Logistics at Perwaja Steel.
With some 20 years’ experience in the supply and logistics section of the Royal Malaysian Navy, Mr Mohd Yunus joined Maju Alat Ganti Sdn Bhd as a Director and subsequently joined Perwaja Steel in 1988. He also holds directorships and shareholdings at several other private companies in Malaysia.
Cheok Kia Yong
Chief Accountant
Mr Cheok was appointed Chief Accountant of Perwaja Steel.
Mr Cheok is responsible for the financial management and reporting of Perwaja Steel. Prior to his appointment, he was a Senior Manager with Ernst & Young in the Assurance and Advisory Business Services practice. He has served on various external and internal audits, risk management and corporate governance, and corporate finance engagements in public listed companies in Malaysia and overseas.
Mr Cheok graduated from University Utara Malaysia, Malaysia with a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) and is also a member with Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
A. Thandayithabani
General Manager of Plant Operations Division
Mr A. Thandayithabani is the General Manager of the Plant Operations Division of Perwaja Steel. He currently oversees the operations and the general administration of Kemaman plant.
He holds a Diploma in Human Capital Management from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia and has more than 29 years experience in the steel industry, especially in the production of steel products.
He joined Perwaja Steel in 1984, and has since been promoted to various key positions before becoming the General Manager of the Plant Operations Division in 2006.
Che Amdilah Abdullah
General Manager of the Business Development & Project
Mr Che Amdilah Abdullah is the General Manager of the Business development & Project of Perwaja Steel.
He joined Perwaja Steel as an Engineer in 1989, has since been promoted to various key positions. He is currently responsible for the coordination of the marketing and sales function, as well as plant upgrading and engineering projects of Perwaja Steel.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Civil Engineering from the Iowa State University, United States.
Fakhrul Azman Nordin
General Manager of DRI Plant
Mr Fakhrul Azman Nordin is the General Manager of Perwaja Steel’s DRI Plant.
He started his career as an engineer with Perwaja Steel in 1991, and held various key positions in Perwaja Steel, including Operations Manager and Head of Production Department before becoming the General Manager of the DRI plant in 2005. His responsibilities currently include overseeing of the entire function and operations of the DRI plant.
He graduated from Swansea University, Wales with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Chemical Engineering.
Kok Mei Ann
Legal Manager
Ms Kok Mei Ann is the Legal Manager of Perwaja Steel.
With almost 10 years’ experience in the legal field, she oversees for all legal and corporate matters of the Group.
She holds a Bachelor of Law (Honours) from Stanffordshire University, United Kingdom and obtained her Certificate in Legal Practice from the Legal Qualifying Board, Malaysia in 1999.
